A second meeting to nominate a person for the position of Second Vice Chair of the Standing
Committee during 2008-09 is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 2:30 PM at the Embassy of
Argentina, 1600 New Hampshire Ave, NW. The Embassy is three blocks east of the Dupont Circle Metro
stop, Q Street Exit, on the Red Line.
Membership in the Nominating Committee is open to all members of the Standing Committee. All
members of the Standing Committee are encouraged to participate in the meeting of the Nominating
Committee.
According to the Rules and Regulations, officers of the Standing Committee are chosen on the basis of 1)
Rotation on as broad a geographical basis as possible, 2) Adequate representation to importing and
exporting countries, and 3) Ability, interest and participation in the work of the Committee. In addition,
delegates must represent countries that are no more than one year in arrears at the time of the meeting
of the Nominating Committee in order to be nominated as a Standing Committee officer.
