Ms Pandolph to Serve as 8th Statistician

Rebecca Pandolph will join the Secretariat on September 1, 2013 and will take over the responsibilities as Statistician October 4, 2013.
 
Dr. Caterina Au, the current statistician, announced her resignation in July for personal reasons. Dr. Au will serve as statistician through the 72nd Plenary Meeting in Cartagena.

Rebecca Pandolph will be the 8th Statistician in the history of the Secretariat, following David Murray (1951-1980), Tom Bell (1980-1987), Terry Townsend (1987-1998), Ioannis Kaltsas (1999-2000), Gérald Estur (2000-2005), Armelle Gruère (2005-January 2013), and Caterina Au (January 2013 to October 2013).
 
Ms. Pandolph is a U.S. citizen; she is currently employed at the U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration, as Senior International Trade Analyst.  She has held different positions in the Department of Commerce since 2006, and she was on detail at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore during 2006. She has strong analytical skills and extensive experience handling large data sets. She is accustomed to an environment of multiple short-term deadlines.
 
Ms. Pandolph has a M.A. in International Economic Affairs from George Washington University and a B.A. in Economics and French from Pennsylvania State University. She is proficient in English and French and has intermediate capabilities in Japanese.
