1. Central Institute for Cotton Research (CICR), Khapri, Nagpur
The Central Institute for Cotton Research was established at Nagpur in 1976 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research
(ICAR), Govt. of India, to promote long-term research efforts in cotton production and provide support and conduct applied research on cotton with the active involvement of State Universities. It has regional stations in Sirsa, Haryana and Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. The Nagpur Head Quarter of the institute is spread over 427 acres and has 80 scientists, more than 200 technical, administrative and supporting staff. The institute has been recognized all over the world for its outstanding research on cotton improvement, development of production technologies and innovative crop protection strategies.
2. Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT)
A premier institute of its kind in the world was established in the year 1924 for conducting research on cotton processing comes under Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Govt. of India. The institute has world-class research facilities and is a referral laboratory on cotton textile at Matunga, Mumbai, which is accredited by NABL and approved as nodal agency for developing reference material on cotton and its allied products. The Ginning Training Centre (GTC) of the institute is situated at Nagpur, which imparts training to ginning operators, managers and entrepreneurs and provides modern testing facility for cotton. The Institute is having five more Regional units of institute located at Coimbatore, Guntur, Dharwad, Surat and Sirsa.
3. Bajaj Steel Industries Limited (BSIL), Nagpur
Established in 1961, a public limited company and awarded as “largest and modern cotton ginning & pressing machinery manufacturer in India” by the hands of Hon'ble Union Minister of Textile, Govt. of India, the BSIL’s manufacturing facilities are spread over 32 Acres of land with state of art manufacturing workshops for different divisions totaling about 300000 Sq. ft. BSIL is having different manufacturing divisions such as Bajaj-Continental EagleGin Machinery Division, Bajaj Double Roller Gin Machine Division, Bajaj-IMPC0 Delinting Machinery Division, Pre-engineered Steel Buildings Division, Electrical Panel Division, Baling Presses Division. Etc.
BSIL is the only company in the world to manufacture all the four ginning technologies under one umbrella and occupies number one position in the ginning machinery segment in the world in terms of sales, manpower employment and facilities.
