Two technical tours will be offered by the cotton industry of Colombia following the 72nd
Plenary Meeting in Cartagena. Both tours will depart Cartagena on Friday afternoon, October 4.
A) Technical Tour - Sur del Cesar
: Participants will visit a crop and livestock production cooperative near the town of Agua Chica in Northern Colombia. The cooperative, Cooperativa Multiactiva Algodonera del Departamento del Cesar Limitada – COALCESAR, produces cotton, maize, sorghum and livestock. The tour will be conducted during October 4-5, 2013, and will conclude in Cartagena on Saturday evening.
B) Technical Tour - Ibague Tolima
is a department or state of Colombia
, located in the Andean region, in the center-west of the country. Participants will visit fields, cotton companies, ginning infrastructure and textile production in Tolima, providing an opportunity to view the entire cotton value chain from cotton to fashion. This tour will be conducted during October 4-6, 2013 and will conclude in Bogota on Sunday morning.
Each tour will cost $200.00 (including transportation and lodging). The?deadline for registration is August 16, 2013. ?
