The economist will interact with other international organizations in the development of models of the world fiber market and demand for fibers at the retail level. The economist will provide support to the International Forum for Cotton Promotion, a private sector organization that facilitates demand enhancement activities at the retail level.
The economist is responsible for developing monthly and annual reports on world cotton use and for making both written and oral presentations to the Standing Committee in Washington, each Plenary Meeting and to world cotton industry organizations as requested.
The working language of the Secretariat is English. The office of the Secretariat is in Washington, DC. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the cotton sector. The economist must be from a member country of the ICAC and preferably fluent in Spanish. Employees of the ICAC are eligible for G4 visas to work in the United States.

Under Alison’s leadership the organization: drives supply chain transparency connecting sustainable fibres from farm to store; focuses on the rights and skills of women in supply chains through pioneering gender programmes; and continues to develop innovations at a farm level. She leads cotton strategies and programmes for global brands and retailers.
